The “FIRE” music video by Korean super band BTS has been viewed more than 400 million times. Following “DNA,” the lead single from Love Yourself:Her, “FIRE” is only the second BTS music video to hit the milestone mark.
“FIRE” is the second single from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Foreverand has sold more than 934,000 units in the United States. The song shot straight to number one on the World Digital Songs chart the week of its release.
It took 838 days to gather the 400 million views.
The seven BTS members give an explosive show in the music video, performing their choreography with a level of synchronization and vigor that acts as a companion to the song, not a detractor from it. “FIRE” preaches about youth taking control of their own way of life and desires—that message is evident in the video, carrying the theme of the song well enough through the visuals and story line that even those who don’t understand Korean will understand what BTS is trying to say. For many, “FIRE” is the first BTS music video they ever saw; the powerhouse of a performance was enough to capture their attention.
“FIRE” is a recipient of numerous awards and nominations. At the Melon Music Awards, a major music awards show in South Korea, “FIRE” was nominated for the Best Dance—Male category in 2016. Music Video Bank Stardust, a Korean television program, gave “FIRE” the title of Best Music Video Boy Group in 2016 as well, while KBS World Radio, the official international broadcasting station of South Korea, awarded “FIRE” with Best Song.
BTS has also performed the song on Korean music shows, including “Inkigayo”, “Music Bank”, and “M Countdown.”
“FIRE” will likely be a part of the set list for BTS’s upcoming world tour.
